Freedom to Decide

The ability to make our own decisions and have our voices heard are basic human rights. However, these rights are often infringed upon as a person ages. Findings from a report carried out by HelpAge's Age Demands Action (ADA) campaign and global network members show that awareness of older people's rights to autonomy, independence, long-term care and palliative care is low among family members, service providers, and even older people themselves.
