Intl Day of Older Persons 2018

celebrating human rights champions

International Day of Older Persons

On this UN-designated day to commemorate older people, we’re celebrating the contributions older people make toward the advancement of human rights.

HelpAge mobilizes older advocates to fight for health, security, and dignity.

Every year, older people participate in our Age Demands Action campaigns to demand action from their governments, including:

  • protections against age discrimination and elder abuse
  • greater investment in health care services
  • social pensions that help older people meet their basic needs

This year, we’re featuring the untold stories of older human rights champions from across the HelpAge global network. They are on the front lines demanding that human rights do not diminish with age.
