What We Do
– Develop pathways for older people to earn a living through Older People’s Associations (OPAs) and livelihood support
such as the provision of cattle or seeds for farming, low-interest loans, credit applications, cash transfers, and skills training
– Work with older people so their voices are heard
– Gather evidence to show the impact on older people’s lives
– Advise governments on developing social protection schemes and pensions
– Support network members and partners to campaign at the national level for better pensions
– Work with older people to develop “Future of Decent Work in Older Age,” a framework for upholding older people’s rights
– Advocate with governments to ensure that economic support packages include specific provisions for older people
Financial Literacy and Older Women in the U.S.
HelpAge USA also does work to improve financial literacy among populations—and particularly older women—in the U.S.
With funding from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the University of Southern California (USC) Center for Economic and Social Research and HelpAge USA conducted research on the implementation of the Tsao Foundation’s successful financial literacy program across Asia and the need and opportunity for financial education for older women in the U.S.
